As the leaves turn golden and the air grows crisp, you may find yourself drawn to the mystical energy of November. This month, steeped in spiritual significance, invites us to delve deeper into life's mysteries, honor our ancestors, and embrace the transformative power of change.
Let's delve into November's spiritual meaning and how you can tap into its essence to enrich your journey of self-discovery.
It is said that the veil between the physical and spiritual planes is at its thinnest. November marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the darker half of the year. Connecting to the wisdom of our ancestors acts as a guide on our journey.
November is a month to examine the shadow self or the ego mind. Spending more time meditating can help us understand our true nature and the path to wholeness. Confronting your fears and doubts instead of pushing them away is an essential part of the process.
November signifies the season of giving thanks and showing gratitude for all our blessings. Gratitude is a transformative force that has the power to manifest our desires, shift our way of thinking, and connect with those around us on a deeper level. Consider setting up a "Journal App" on your phone as a daily reminder to reflect on the blessings in your life. When you awaken an attitude of gratitude you automatically unite with the universe's unlimited abundance.
Connecting with Mother Earth
The earth is preparing for a transition into the colder months of winter. Trees continue to shed their leaves, animals prepare for hibernation, and the earth pulls inward. Taking long walks in nature will help you connect with the natural cycle of Mother Earth. In the process, you can reflect on the rhythms of your own life. You might consider asking yourself the following questions:
What are you ready to let go of in your life?
Are there old patterns of behavior that you are clinging to?
What seeds of inspiration are you ready to plant for the future?
What words of wisdom can you rely on for your growth?
November is the sign of the Pig archetype. Before I delve into the pig symbolism, let’s take a moment to understand the very concept of spiritual symbolism itself. At its core, spiritual symbolism is a language of the soul, a means of communication between the physical and metaphysical realms. It is a way for the universe to speak to us, using symbols as the medium.
Pigs are seen as creatures that provide sustenance and nourishment, embodying the spirit of Mother Earth and her ability to provide for her children. Additionally, pigs are associated with transformation and rebirth representing the cyclical nature of life and the importance of adapting and evolving.
Pigs are also associated with fertility and the harvest, symbolizing prosperity and abundance. They are seen as symbols of intelligence and resourcefulness, as pigs are known for their problem-solving abilities and adaptability. Furthermore, due to their connection to the earth and rooting behavior, pigs are seen as grounding animals, representing a strong connection to the earthly realm. In addition, the centering earth quality of the pig aligns with the energy star this month that resides in its natural home or the center. The center position represents YOU or the importance of grounding yourself and reflecting on your true nature.
Self-reflection and introspection are a must this month. They will invite you to explore your desires, motivations, and values and consider how they align with your spiritual path. By delving into the spiritual meaning of pigs, you can gain valuable insights into your journey of self-discovery and growth.
Unity & Divisiveness
Today, many are burdened by the sights and sounds of division worldwide and in our beloved nation, the United States of America. The divide runs deep, touching everything from the foundations of our democracy to the very fabric of our communities and families. The greatest sages warned of the consequences of a divided house.
"Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand." Matthew 12:25
Marcus Aurelius oversaw one of the largest empires on Earth, he knew more than anyone how easy it was to be corrupted by power, to become selfish, paranoid, or close-minded. But he chose virtue instead. That’s because Marcus built his philosophy on the finest teacher of Stoicism, Epictetus. His most important teaching, the dichotomy of control, is critical to understanding Meditations. It claims that the most essential thing in life is to realize there are things we can control and cannot. Our thoughts, opinions, and choices are the only things we control. Everything else — our fate, possessions, reputation, other people’s behavior, and environmental events — is out of our control. We have no power over them. But crucially, it’s our choice how we think about them. It's empowering to know that by reasoning about the world, we can choose not to be affected by it. We can always remain composed clear-minded, and self-assured in being good people.
Ancient Symbols of Unity
Humanity has been captivated by the vastness of the universe, pondering its origins and myriad mysteries. Not surprisingly, ancient civilizations developed powerful symbols to convey their understanding of the universe, humanity’s role, and the profound truths of life and unity found within these symbols. Here are a few ancient symbols describing the universe and all things interconnectedness.
Developed by Pythagoras, the Tetraktys symbolize the universe, how it works, and how all things are one. It begins at the pyramid's capstone with one dot or the Divine Source where all other things emanate from (duality, the trinity, and material realm). To climb the pyramid of self-growth, one must recognize all things come from the ONE and return to the Source.
Om or Aum is the primary sound or vibration from which the universe originated. It is believed to be present in everything that exists. Aum consists of three syllables Aaa, Ooo, Umm – which are three basic sounds that symbolize the various trinities of existence including the three states of consciousness – waking, dreaming, and deep sleep and the three cyclical processes – creation, preservation, and destruction. Therefore, OM is a profound symbol representing the totality of the universe or all things.
A mandala, meaning “circle” in Sanskrit, is a circular geometric pattern used for spiritual practice, meditation, prayer, and introspection. It is regarded as a mystical map of the universe, symbolizing its totality, infinite nature, completeness, and the concept of oneness and enlightenment.
The circle symbolizes the universe with its inherent qualities of completeness, totality, oneness, and infinity. Additionally, the center of the circle signifies the point of origin from which all creation emanates, underscoring the interconnectedness and oneness of the cosmos.
A prayer wheel is a cylindrical device used in Buddhism for prayer and meditation. When spun, it is believed to connect the microcosm (person spinning the wheel) to the macrocosm (God or the universe). The spinning is believed to send out prayers and blessings into the universe, signifying interconnectedness, spiritual energy, and the perpetual flow of positive intentions and goodwill to all.
The Platonic solids are 5 sacred geometrical shapes believed to be the universe's building blocks. What sets these solids apart are their distinct characteristics: equilateral faces, equal angles, and identical vertices, symbolizing the spiritual and material universe and everything within. They also represent interconnectedness, balance, harmony, and perfection.
Learning to work with these high-energy frequency fields in everyday life is transformational. Wisdom Corner
Marcus Aurelius stated the importance of "doing away with all fancies and not letting false, irrational impressions of the world, and the judgments and ideas these create, carry you away. Don't be swayed by their constant flux."
The road to virtue is having a clear and rational mind. If we are taken over by fancies - thrown around by judgments and emotions, our view of the world is completely skewed.
What You Can Do:
You can impact the world by taking care of your mind. There is a story about a special forces commander who conducted training maneuvers in the Himalayan mountains when he came across a remote monastery. He decided to knock on the door and was greeted by an old wise Tibetian monk. He inquired if he could ask this monk a question. The monk said yes. The commander asked why the world was such a dark and depressing place and what he could do to change it. The monk saw the commander was sincere and invited him into the temple. He took him to the back area where he grabbed a bamboo stick and drew a circle in the dirt. He grabbed two small black cloth bags and proceeded to open one of the bags. He poured many dark-colored stones into the circle and explained that when the world is full of a majority of people led by dysfunctional egos and only thinking about their small limited selves, this is what we get in the world. The monk cleared the dark stones from the circle and opened the second bag. He poured out many white stones into the circle. He explained when the majority of the people in the world move beyond their limited selves, move to their higher selves, and align with the qualities of benevolence, kindness, and compassion, then this is what we get in the world. The monk said if you want to make a difference in the world, understand that the circle is your mind and when you get your mind right you get the world right.
Mind your thoughts in your world and this will change the entire world.
