Losing Sight of What's Important

Writer: MJ KaslinerMJ Kasliner

In today's fast-paced world, losing sight of what's important is easy. Most of us are caught up in setting goals; when things do not work out, we work harder.

Here's the scary thought, do you have to impose your will on the universe to make things happen and lose sight of a greater wisdom that can effortlessly guide you through life?

Throughout history, great thinkers and philosophers have shared their insights with humanity. Their words of wisdom offer us guidance, inspiration, and motivation.

Sir Francis Bacon's famous quote, "Knowledge is power," emphasizes the importance of education. It reminds us to seek knowledge and expand our understanding of the world, empowering us to navigate life's challenges more effectively.

Mahatma Gandhi, famously said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” This is a quote I use often in my yoga classes to remind my yogis how powerful personal responsibility is. Gandhi urges us to create the change we desire instead of waiting for others to do it. If we all do our part, we will create a rippling effect of positive change in the world.

Socrates offers a guiding principle for personal growth. His quote, "An unexamined life is not worth living" encourages us to reflect on our actions. Self-reflection is essential on the path of recognizing the important things in life.

Some of the greatest sages gave us endless quotes reminding us of the wisdom and guidance we can benefit from on our journey.

The next time you are tempted to grab your phone and scroll through social media, read some inspiring quotes instead. You may learn something new and be inspired to share it with friends and family.

Tiger's Fire

As February winds down, the tiger's fiery energy expands. These animals carry a

majestic beauty and powerful presence, and often associated with strength, courage, and passion.

Tigers are often seen as totems or spirit animals that empower and encourage us to embrace our inner strength and resilience.

The tiger helps us face fears head-on and overcome obstacles with confidence.

The tiger's ability to adapt to various environments reflects the spiritual journey of personal growth and transformation.

The fire qualities hidden within the tiger sheds light on our path. We become the creator of our destiny. This element helps us to be present so we don't get lost in the details of endless information that fill our days with nothingness.

Embrace the qualities of the tiger as you navigate through the last week of February. You can build these qualities for the remainder of this month by placing a water plant (i.e. bamboo) in the south portent.

Simplistic Abundance

Have you ever thought about the simple things that bring you joy? Let's face it, the hustle and bustle of everyday life can act as a distraction to the small things that can make all the difference when it comes to feeling joy. For example, a warm cup of tea, a good book, a walk in nature, or listening to good music are all simple things that bring big rewards.

All too often we put aside the simple things in life because our to-do list is ridiculously long.

How many times have you told yourself you'll get to that book tomorrow, catch up with your friends, take that yoga class, meditate, catch a sunrise or sunset, or volunteer in your community? The list of simplistic abundance is endless, yet we tend to put off life's simple pleasures and for what...So we can check off a few more things on our list!

Starting today, make a point of doing one thing that brings you joy. Put down your phone, shut your computer off, and do something that makes you feel good. It can be as simple as turning on music and dancing when no one is looking!

Let's thrive together with simplistic abundance!
